Jack Popplewell

Jack Popplewell wrote a string of successful plays, as well as the hit songs “If I Should Fall in Love Again” and “My Girl's an Irish Girl.” He had his first success in pop music when a friend secretly entered ''If I Should Fall in Love Again'' in a competition. It won first prize. Popplewell's first play to reach the stage was BLIND ALLEY (1953), which became the film "Tread Softly, Stranger" in 1958. He also wrote DEAD ON NINE, DEAR DELINQUENT, THE QUEEN'S FAVORITES, EVERY OTHER EVENING, HIGH INFIDELITY, HOCUS POCUS, THE LAST WORD, MOTHERS DAY OUT, POLICY FOR MURDER, SOMEONE TO KILL, and THE VANITY CASE. He died on November 16, 1996, in Bath, England.
